What is the church of the Nazarene?
Official signs sometimes carry the words "an evangelical church in the Wesleyan Holiness tradition" - but what does that mean....
Evangelical - means we believe that Scripture is key to understanding the story of God and the way God is and always has been at work in the world, and that the Good News of Jesus life, death and resurrection are central to that story.
Wesleyan - means we trace our tradition back to John Wesley. We believe along with Wesley that God's grace is available to all and that God is at work in the world through his Spirit to call us into relationship with him. In response we have a free choice to answer his call.
Holiness - means that we believe our faith is a living working out of the love of God. We hope to reflect all that God intended us to be. As a result we try to be not just a community of faith but a vibrant church fully engaged at the heart of a real community of local people.
What does it mean to me?
I hope it means that you will find us a church of real people on a journey of faith together, actively living that faith in Penycae. We are involved in schools work, community work, and family ministry, but most of all we work out together what it means to wholeheartedly follow Jesus in the 21st century.
